Information

Many people with intellectual disabilities have one or more additional disabilities that together place great demands on care. In order to be able to provide good services, professionals need to have a wide range of expertise in order to make good choices in different situations. The skilled worker must encourage the user to take up employment, practise good self-care and develop social relationships. Strengthening attitudes and respect for the individual’s right to development and self-realisation is central to the training. We focus on ensuring that people with intellectual disabilities have the same good mental and somatic health services as the rest of the population. The user’s self-care and sense of mastery are central and important concepts.

You can do your practical training at your own workplace. This is a free evening vocational school, which is completed over two years and can be combined with work.

The programme can be offered in the following counties:
Rogaland and Agder.
