The programme is suitable for both those who work in the kitchens of healthcare institutions and healthcare professionals who work with users. The programme will give you the knowledge and skills you need to facilitate good dietary habits and food experiences together with users. You will gain basic knowledge of nutrition for various diseases and conditions, nutrition in relation to age and cultural affiliation, everyday tips on how to enrich food, get a healthier diet and how to customise the meal to the individual. Internships (company visits) and practical cooking are included in the programme.

This is a free evening vocational school, which is completed over one year and can be combined with work.

The programme can be offered in the following counties:
Rogaland, Vestland and Agder.

Organisation of training

– The programme has a total standard duration of study of ½ year, but is organised as a part-time programme
over 1 year
– Approximately 5 sessions per month are planned; one fixed day per week + one extra day per month. In addition to this
4 days of work experience and 4 evenings of practical cookery
– Students submit one written assignment per course
– Completed programme gives 30 credits

The programme is suitable for

Health care workers, activators, nursing assistants, care workers and health secretaries. Applicants with a vocational certificate or a journeyman’s certificate in the restaurant and food industry can also apply for the programme.

The Vocational School Nutrition in Nursing and Care Services is aimed at employees working in nursing homes, home care, hospitals, homes for people with intellectual disabilities, day centres, respite homes and other areas of health and care where nutrition is emphasised.

Examination

Each course ends with an exam. The type of exam is stated in the individual programme plan.
