The programme focuses on working with language and the challenges of working with multicultural children. The programme will provide you with knowledge about multilingualism and multicultural work that promotes diversity and inclusion.

Information

The vocational programme Working with language, multilingualism and multicultural competence when working with children covers both language work in general and challenges when working with multicultural children. Language is essential for achieving good communication with children and their carers. The programme will focus on language difficulties, multilingualism, cultural differences and parental cooperation – to name but a few. During the programme, students will acquire knowledge about multilingualism and multicultural work and what promotes diversity, inclusion and participation.

You can do your practical training at your own workplace. This is a free evening vocational school, which is completed over 2 years and can be combined with work.

The programme can be offered in the following counties:
Rogaland, Vestland and Agder.

NB! The curriculum is currently being revised, so there may be changes in the content and organisation of the programme.

Organisation of the training

– The programme can be carried out as a location-based, online with sessions or online part-time programme. Select your preferred location for the programme to see how it is planned in your area.

– Completion of the programme results in 60 credits and the degree title “Fagskolegrad”.


The programme is suitable for

Child and youth care workers or employees with different professional backgrounds in health and child care, who work in kindergartens, primary and lower secondary schools, after-school programmes, leisure clubs and other public or private agencies such as child welfare services and other institutions for children and young people.

Examination

Each course ends with an exam. The type of exam is stated in the individual programme plan.
