Observation and care of wounds
The programme is tailored for those who already work in the healthcare sector and want to expand their expertise in wounds and wound care.
Information
Wound care is resource-intensive in the healthcare sector, which is already struggling with staff shortages and limited budgets. Traditionally, nurses have been responsible for wound care. By the end of the programme, students will have solid expertise in observing and caring for wounds, and will be able to relieve nurses by taking on greater responsibility in this area. This contributes to competence enhancement in the workplace, which can make the work tasks more attractive and potentially increase recruitment to the healthcare sector.
The professional school programme Observation and care of wounds covers general principles of wound care, causes of wounds, and factors that affect healing. The student learns to identify and describe different types of wounds, as well as prevent and treat them, including rare wound types and skin diseases.
After completing the programme, the student will have acquired the necessary expertise in the observation and care of wounds for work in wound clinics, hospitals, institutions and home nursing.
